Our Mission

Recovery in Motion supports individuals in recovery from substance use disorder on Cape Cod through movement, connection, and community. We offer free and donation-based activities — yoga, fitness classes, group walks, recovery meetings, and social events — all in a welcoming, inclusive environment. Everyone belongs here. Your support through a donation helps keep these programs accessible to all.

How We Were Founded & Who We Are

Our Story

Recovery in Motion was born out of both loss and determination. When a beloved wellness and recovery space in our community closed its doors, many of us were left feeling disappointed, displaced, and uncertain about where we would continue our journey. More than just a place to work out, it had been a safe and supportive environment where we gathered to move our bodies, quiet our minds, and heal together as a recovery family.

Rather than let that sense of community fade, we chose to take action.

The charge was led by Falmouth resident and recovery coach, Karen Rae & Middleboro resident and fitness instructor, Mic Grant. Both Karen and Mic have been affected by family loss from substance use disorder. Behind this pair are also a group of dedicated members who came together with a shared vision: to rebuild, reimagine, and continue what meant so much to all of us. Through years of connection with the Falmouth Recreation Department—built on trust, collaboration, and a shared love of community—the opportunity emerged to create something new. With open arms, the Recreation Department welcomed us in, demonstrating genuine support for the recovery community and a commitment to inclusivity and wellness.

Recovery in Motion is, at its core, powered by its people. Our members are the driving force behind everything we do, and our goal is to grow into a fully volunteer-led organization rooted in service, connection, and shared purpose.

We offer a wide range of classes designed to support both physical and emotional well-being, including Pilates, barre, yoga, meditation, and strength training, alongside community-based support. Beyond classes, we foster connection through a variety of clubs—such as Breakfast Club, Garden Club, Run Club, Walking Club, and Pickleball Club—creating opportunities for joy, friendship, and meaningful engagement.

As we continue to grow and evolve, our mission remains clear: to break the stigma surrounding addiction and build a welcoming, inclusive community where individuals in recovery and their allies can come together, support one another, and thrive.

"Recovery in Motion is more than a program — it's a movement. And we're just getting started."
